Tours to Oban
Oban Tours
The original fishing village of Oban on the rugged west coast has grown into a vibrant town. Known as both ‘seafood capital of Scotland’ and the ‘Gateway to the Isles’. Travellers from around the world flock to its busy port to begin their island-hopping adventures. From Oban you can travel to the Inner and Outer Hebrides.
This is where our small group tour catches the ferry to the islands on our four day tour of Mull, Iona and the Highlands and also on our six day island hopping tour of Mull, Iona, Skye, the Highlands and Loch Ness, all of which depart from Edinburgh and Glasgow.
Discover Scotland Tours also offers a one day tour from Glasgow to Oban, the Western Highlands, Lochs, Castles and Glencoe. On this tour we stop in Oban for lunch.
We also offer Private Tours allow for a more bespoke experience. With personalised itineraries you can certainly choose Oban as a tour highlight if you wish. Maybe you want to spend longer in the town and visit nearby Dunstaffnage Castle. Alternatively, you may even make it your base for exploring the area. The choice is yours.
As your luxury mini coach arrives in the town, whose name means ‘little bay’ in Gaelic, you can’t miss the granite monument of McCaig’s Tower, a folly that was never completed. It’s worth walking up to this Colosseum-like structure for the panoramic views to the misty isles.
In the lanes below you can shop for local crafts and gifts or simply sit on the seawall, breathe in the crystal air and gaze out to the small island of Kerrera and beyond. Seafood lovers might enjoy savouring some of Scotland’s tastiest oysters and mussels in Oban’s excellent restaurants around the picturesque harbour.
