Community Action – Supporting Local Charities

St Vincent’s Hospice

St Vincent’s Hospice has been caring for the terminally ill in Renfrewshire for over 30 years now. They are a registered charity, operating shops and a tearoom to raise money for their cause.

Earlier in the summer we reached out to the hospice to see if they needed volunteers to help with anything in their day to day services. Luckily, they were just about to paint the fencing in their guest car park. This was the a perfect job for us to take out of their hands.

We travelled out to the hospice and started work in changing the brown painted fence to a fresh new grey colour. It was a beautiful summers day that turned out to be very warm. We were therefore extra thankful for the lunch refreshments the hospice kindly provided.

A few hours later and the fence looks as good as new. You can view some clips of our handiwork in the video below. Hopefully we will be able to visit again in the future and volunteer some more hours to help out this charity that is an important part of the local community.

West Highland Way Charity Walk

This month we are very proud to be supporting our colleague Sam as she undertakes the West Highland Way, raising money for Recovery Across Mental Health (RAMH). This is a local charity based in Renfrewshire that aids many people through a variety of services and programmes.

The West Highland Way is a 96 mile (154km) trail from Milngavie just north of Glasgow to Fort William. It’s a very popular long distance walking route through the Scottish Highlands but with long days and uneven paths it’s not for the faint hearted! We wish Sam and her team all the best and look forward to hearing about her experiences. You can find out more about the trip on their fundraising page.
