It’s a day off!!
What does a driver guide do on a day off?
She indulges of course. Indulges in the some of the pleasures guests enjoy on a Discover Scotland Tour.
I don’t drive though. I let my husband do that and I just take in the views. We’re heading to Oban but following Loch Lomond to Ardlui, then heading North West through Crianlarich and Tyndrum. The big decision of the day is whether to stop at the Real Food Café for a great fish and chips for lunch or to wait until Inverary on the way home?
We stop in Connel for lunch – brilliant sea food in the Oyster Inn – and then make the quick 5 mile dash to Oban for a walk along the shore. I love watching the Calmac ferries coming into Oban from the beautiful islands of Mull, Jura and Colonsay. It’s a bit choppy today so the Colonsay trip in particular might have been a pretty rough ride!
Oban is really quite a large town but seems to have a slightly different pace of life to the big cities further South. I can see myself retiring here some day! It’s a long way off though.
We have a lovely drive down the coast to Inverary and can’t resist fish and chips and the beautiful evening sun shining on Loch Fyne.
Scotland really is a wonderful little country. I’d encourage everyone to get out and explore. There’s so much to see, do and learn. And what better way to do it than by a relaxing tour with Discover Scotland.
