Just 40 minutes from Glasgow and we reach our first stop of the day. Here we'll enjoy morning refreshments on the bonnie banks of Loch Lomond with some wonderful views looking over to Ben Lomond.

As we travel through Rannoch Moor towards Glencoe, your driver-guide will point out Buachaille Etive Mor, this is where 007 and M drove to reach ‘Skyfall’. This area was also used in many scenes from the Harry Potter films and you’ll have time here to savour the stunning scenery of Scotland’s most famous glen.

From Fort William we’ll travel the ‘Road to the Isles', to Mallaig, one of Scotland’s most scenic routes. This takes us past Loch Eilt another ‘Harry Potter’ location where Hagrid was seen skimming stones across the water. Nearby, you’ll see Eilean na Moine which is the final resting place of Dumbledore.

Reaching the Silver Sands of Morar you’ll think you’re in the Caribbean. Take a short stroll along the glistening sand with its turquoise waters looking over to the small isles.

At Mallaig we’ll have time to explore this beautiful little fishing port whilst enjoying some local fish and chips.

For many the highlight of the journey is Glenfinnan, and we schedule our arrival here to see the Jacobite Steam Train cross the famous Glenfinnan Viaduct as seen in the Harry Potter movies.

On one side you have views of the Glenfinnan Viaduct curving through the glen in a scene immortalised as the route to Harry Potter’s Hogwarts. On the other side you have stunning views of the Glenfinnan Monument standing at the head of Loch Shiel.

Loch Shiel (the ’Black Lake’) was also used in many Harry Potter films such as The Prisoner of Azkaban and The Half-Blood Prince. It was also used in a scene from the Triwizard Tournament in The Goblet of Fire.

Our last stop is at the Drovers Inn, a traditional Scottish pub and historic resting point for weary travellers of old. Enjoy an evening refreshment in front of a roaring log fire once enjoyed by the infamous outlaw Rob Roy MacGregor.

Please Note:
* The Jacobite Steam Train doesn't operate from 29th Oct 2022 until the beginning of April 2023. You will still be able see the Glenfinnan Viaduct & visit Glenfinnan Monument during this period.

Our experience was, in short, great. Our driver Dave was cheerful, patient and filled with knowledge about Scottish history and nature. He's an entertainer and a legend as well. The itinerary was nice. Scottish nature is astonishing and even more important - unique. It is true that weather can change quite quickly, but I wouldn't say that was an issue. We experienced it all, rain and sunshine, and I wouldn't have changed it one bit. You just have to see it. Taking this tour is one of the best ways to explore Scotland and I couldn't recommend it more.

We were delighted with our day tour last week. John the driver kept us happy, safe & entertained. We would recommend Discover Scotland to family & friends. Having smaller coaches made the day trip much more personable. Thank you,

Everything was perfect! We loved the size of the van, all the locations, and the time spent at each one. However, the what made it even more enjoyable was Karen! Very funny, nice, and helpful. It was simply the best tour we have ever taken.

A great experience! We greatly enjoyed two tours with your company, the Loch Lomond Tour on 19th of June and Glenfinnan Viaduct, Mallaig, Glencoe on 20th of June. The trip to Loch Lomond was fantastic, Karen, our driver guide, was very kind, professional, competent, engaging, informative (we learnt a lot of things) , travelling with her was a great pleasure. The second trip to Glenfinnan Viaduct, Mallaig, Glencoe, was interesting and amazing. We had a lot of fun with Scott, our creative driver, who involved us in the nature sceneries and provided us  with all sorts  of information, including  popular local music. Both trips were delightful, everything (organization, times, means of transport, communication mails) was just awesome. Thanks and surely we are going to recommend your company to all the people who want  to visit Scotland.

We booked your tour last minute and it turned out to be one of the best tours we have taken in the UK. We have tried all the big name tours too and by far yours was the best. That is mostly due to Dave and his hilarious and informative commentary. My kids were throughly entertained and we would definitely take a tour with you again. Thanks so much for making our time in Glasgow so fun.

To start with Colin, our tour leader was amazing. We started on time and everything there after was on time. Colin has great knowledge about the culture and history, which is an authentic experience for anybody exploring any new place to go with the traditional dress that he wore. All the spots mentioned in the Itenary were covered and there was sufficient time given to customers, be it for a quick refreshment or just to stop on the way and appreciate the beautiful scenery that the highlands had to offer. Kudos to the team and I look forward to many more trips in the future with your team.

11/05/22 - Bernice

The Glenfinnan Viaduct, Mallaig & Glencoe tour with Collin was one of the best experiences we have had in Scotland! Not only were the views breathtaking, Collin was really knowledgeable and made our tour really enjoyable! The choice of music and stories told by Collin 👍! He really took the effort to make sure that we were making full use of our time during the tour.

We did the Mallaig tour with Scott as ourdriver/guide. Firstly Scott. You have a real gem there. He was fun, welcoming, and informative from start to finish. It was a rainy day but we still loved every minute. To be singing Loch Lomond on the banks of LL was a true memory. Unlike other tours we have done we did not feel the stops were geared up to us having to spend money. There were opportunities but these were our choice not ‘forced’ upon us. A lovely feeling. Would not change a thing. Would definitely recommend.

I wanted to give feedback on our tour on Wednesday April 20, 2022.  Our tour guide was John.  He was fantastic.  He was full of facts and information.  The scenic points were well planned out.  He let us take as much time as we wanted with giving us an allowable time to explore and take pictures.  The sites were fantastic.  We made it to the viaduct with plenty of time to find a good viewing spot.  We did get to miss out on Drover's Inn but that's ok.  He got us back at an acceptable time.  Your company found themselves a great tour guide.  If we ever find ourselves back in Scotland, we would love to try the 3 day Isle of Skye tour that John was talking about. We will definitely recommend your company to friends and family.  The bus was also comfortable and clean.

Honestly....everything was just awesome. The small group size made me not feel like part of a tourist heard but more like a group of friends on a road trip. My tour leader was Colin and he was an absolute doll and so much craic, I loved how he also made the driving parts worthwhile with the stories, the music... Those myths, stories and history actually got to me, which really set me in the mood for my time in the highlands, making my whole 3 days there so much more immersive and worthwhile, I'm so grateful for that.

FAQs

The Jacobite Steam Train is scheduled to operate from April 4th - 28th October 2022. We aim to reach Glenfinnan in time to see the train crossing (subject to the train operating per their timetable). There is a great viewpoint to get photos of the train as it travels across the viaduct.

The train does not operate from 29th October - April. During this time our tour still visits the iconic Glenfinnan Viaduct & Monument
