On this Highlands tour from Edinburgh, we travel west passing Stirling Castle to our first stop at Doune Castle. * You’ll have time to visit this magnificent late 14th century stronghold. The castle stood in for Winterfell in Game of Thrones and Castle Leoch in Outlander. It also starred as Swamp Castle, Castle Anthrax and Camelot in the cult comedy movie Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

We continue through the Trossachs National Park and the highland town of Callander to lovely Loch Lubnaig. This small but stunningly located stretch of freshwater nestling between two striking mountains, Ben Ledi and Ben Vane is where we’ll have some morning refreshments.

Our small group tour will stop for photos at Kilchurn Castle. This mid-15th century ruins stands at the head of Loch Awe amid a backdrop of soaring mountains.

The classic 18th century planned town of Inveraray enjoys a picturesque setting on the shores of Loch Fyne and is the perfect place to stop. Inveraray is a classic example of an 18th century planned town with its distinctive, white-washed Georgian architecture.

With around 2 hours here you will have time to enjoy lunch and see Inveraray Castle** or have a wander around the town.

We'll make a short stop for photos at the ‘Rest and Be Thankful’, so named thanks to the words carved in stone by weary soldiers who built the original military road in 1753.

Our final stop of the day will be at the charming highland village of Luss. Sitting on the bonnie banks of Loch Lomond, there’s time to take a stroll around the village and enjoy the stunning views across the loch. From here we make our return to Edinburgh where your Scottish Highland's tour will end.

*We are unable to visit inside Doune Castle as it is temporarily closed due to maintenance work. Access permitting, we will stop for some photos of this 14th century castle.
**Inveraray Castle is open  April - October only. During these months it opens on Thursday - Monday (closed on Tuesday & Wednesdays)

Me and my partner greatly enjoyed the day tour with your Company on the 16th of April, 2022. Michael was a great guide and driver who gave us important information and entertained us with his jokes and Scottish music in the van. The tour was very well conducted and managed in the exact way as promised. You guys are doing great work and I hope I’m able to book a tour with you during my next visit to Scotland. Good luck!!

12/04/22 – Olinda

I have to tell you that we had a wonderful time!!! The small group, the price, the type of bus, and our tour guy, were all great! Our tour guy, John, made the whole experience more amenable and interesting. We were able to keep our phones charged so I didn't miss taking pictures. We truly enjoyed the tour and will be recommending your company to others.

01/03/22 – Gemay

From the moment we met Michael our tour guide we knew we were going to have a good time, he was very warm, welcoming, funny and had banter from the start, just what we liked. He kept us entertained for the whole tour with great music, interesting facts and great history about your country. Nothing was ever too much of a bother with Michael and we couldn’t of asked for a greater tour guide, he is a real asset to your company. The itinerary was great!! I have previously done a tour to Loch Ness and wanted to explore a different part of Scotland. There was plenty of time to visit each part and nothing felt rushed. It’s a wonderful tour with many stops along the way. Michael even gave us two extra stops. There was a great combination of Lochs, Castles and view points. Our favourite place was Loch Lubnaig! Next time we visit Scotland we would love to do another tour with you guys! 10 out of 10 for value and experience!

12/12/21 – Harry

We have enjoyed a truly wonderful day where all pieces of the puzzle did fit together perfectly. The weather was great for taking pictures – cold but dry and sometimes even sunny – and the scenery was wonderful as most of the mountains were snowcapped. The route was great and felt like a chain of highlights and the real winner was our excellent guide and driver John. We owe him lots of thanks for telling us wonderful stories about Scottish history, heroes of the past and the making of the famous Outlander series. My wife and daughters are big fans so this was a significant plus for us.

24/11/21 - Jenny

Tour was great. The driver was brilliant, friendly and very informative- kept everyone engaged. Couldn't fault him would use your company again.

11/11/21 - Praveen

I went for a day tour to Highlands Loch, Glens and Castles from Edinburgh. I had an amazing experience with beautiful views of Castles, Lochs and finally the village of Luss. Our tour guide Jeff was friendly and informative. We were only a group of two, yet he kept us engaging throughout the tour by sharing his vast knowledge of Scottish history. Above all, he managed to show us all the planned spots despite interruptions with lashing rains. I highly recommend Discover Scotland tours and Jeff for his excellent job as a tour leader.

11/11/21 – Kevin

I had an amazing Highlands tour with John (I believe his name was) on Nov 11th. He was the perfect guide--knowledgeable, passionate about Scotland, interested in his clients, funny and also drove very safely. I recommend Discover Scotland Tours to anyone visiting and hope to book the 3-day Isle of the Skye trip next year in November as well. Thanks again!

09/10/21 – Richard & Trudi

Trudi and I enjoyed our tour.  Your driver was excellent, nice guy, very genuine, drove safely. Regards to him please.

07/10/21 - Laura

You guys gave an absolutely phenomenal tour on Monday. Our tour guide was Cleff (Maybe Cliff with an accent? Apologies!). His stories were highly entertaining and his knowledge was comprehensive. He was even kind enough to direct us towards the church we couldn’t find in Luss after our intended departure time, and to take us through and give a mini tour of Glasgow (with personalized recommendation for a hostel near a concert venue I am attending in December) on the way home. Wouldn’t change a thing about the experience. Even though it was rainy, Cleff (Cliff?)’s energy was buoyant and sunny for the entire 10 hours. We also got to stop and see a highland cow, which was the TOTAL highlight. All the pitstops for coffee, tea, and bathrooms were greatly appreciated.

22/07/21 – Philippa

My friend and I throughly enjoyed our two tours with you during our brief stay in Scotland. We were delighted with both tours, Micheal and Fergi provided excellent entertainment on the bus and looked after us well. There honestly isn’t anything that we wish was different; we had two great days out of the cities and exploring outer Scotland! Thank you for your excellent service… we will be recommending you to others!
