From Greenock we'll travel to Glasgow City Centre for a quick photo stop before making our way to historic Doune Castle.
During the 1745 Jacobite Rising Doune Castle was occupied by Bonnie Prince Charlie and his Jacobites. It was used as a prison to hold his captives who were captured at the Battle of Falkirk. You'll have time to visit the castle and learn more about its place in Scottish History. It featured in many TV productions including Monty Python, Game of Thrones, and the Scottish historical drama Outlander (Castle Leoch).
Enjoy panoramic views of majestic mountains and sparkling lochs as we journey through the Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park. This area is also known as Rob Roy MacGregor territory.
Rob Roy MacGregor was an outlaw who became a Scottish folk hero. He joined his father in the Jacobite rising of 1689 and fought at the Battle of Killiecrankie. On his 18th birthday he came of age in the barn at Ledard Farm.

MacGregors barn is a unique venue where we'll experience an authentic Scottish Highland gathering. We’ll be looking for two volunteers to dress up and escort the haggis before we ‘address’ the haggis. Robert Burns wrote his poem Address to a Haggis to celebrate his appreciation of the Haggis.
Song, poetry, and music fills the air while we enjoy lunch. You can look forward to many laughs and lots of fun.
A short stop at Balmaha will allow us to capture some spectacular views across the bonnie banks of Loch Lomond. From here we return to Greenock and your ship, where your Rob Roy & The Jacobites Shore excursion ends.
