Tour Itinerary
Departing Greenock Port
You’ll be welcomed by our port representative close to the Greenock cruise terminal before meeting your driver-guide and beginning your journey into the Scottish Highlands. Leaving Greenock behind, we travel east along the River Clyde before heading north towards Loch Lomond and the mountains of the West Highlands.
Loch Lomond
Our journey takes us along the western shores of Loch Lomond, with beautiful views across the water towards the surrounding mountains. Scotland’s largest freshwater loch, Loch Lomond is often considered the gateway to the Highlands and provides a spectacular introduction to the scenery ahead. Sit back and enjoy the changing landscape as we continue north towards the Arrochar Alps.
Rest and Be Thankful
Travelling through the dramatic mountain scenery of the Arrochar Alps, we reach the famous Rest and Be Thankful viewpoint. Looking across Glen Croe, the viewpoint takes its unusual name from an inscription placed here by soldiers who built the original military road in the 18th century.
It is a wonderful place to stop, enjoy the fresh Highland air and admire the sweeping views across the surrounding mountains and glens.

Inveraray & Inveraray Castle
Next, we continue to the attractive town of Inveraray, beautifully positioned on the shores of Loch Fyne. You’ll have time to enjoy lunch and explore the town before visiting magnificent Inveraray Castle, the ancestral home of the Duke of Argyll and historic seat of Clan Campbell.
With its distinctive fairytale appearance, impressive interiors and fascinating family history, Inveraray Castle is one of the highlights of the day. Admission to Inveraray Castle is included in the price of your shore excursion. After your visit, there will be time to enjoy Inveraray’s elegant streets and waterside setting before continuing deeper into Argyll.
Kilchurn Castle & Loch Awe
We then travel to Loch Awe, where the atmospheric ruins of Kilchurn Castle stand beneath the surrounding mountains. Once a powerful stronghold of the Campbells of Glenorchy, Kilchurn is now one of Scotland’s most recognisable castle ruins. We’ll stop to enjoy the classic view of the castle and Loch Awe before beginning our journey back towards Loch Lomond.
Luss
Our final stop is the picturesque conservation village of Luss, situated on the famous bonnie banks of Loch Lomond. Take a stroll through its charming streets, admire the traditional cottages and enjoy views across the loch towards the surrounding mountains. After our visit to Luss, we return to Greenock cruise port with plenty of time before your ship is scheduled to depart.
