Dedicated to Sustainable Tourism

At Discover Scotland Tours we are fully committed to the need for sustainable policies to ensure our landscapes, communities and wildlife can thrive for years to come.

We are committed to minimising our impact on the environment. Our small group tours provide an enriched experience to Scotland’s visitors, bringing together travellers from around the world into one mini coach. Sharing the experience also reduces the number of vehicles travelling through the Highlands. By adopting the ‘leave no trace’ mindset, our passengers leave nothing but their footprints while they take in the breath-taking landscapes our country has to offer.

Through visiting local businesses on tour and donating time and money to local and national charities, Discover Scotland Tours actively supports organisations with a vision to help our communities grow, while preserving our wildlife and landscapes for future generations.

At Discover Scotland Tours we take many steps to minimise our impact on the environment. Whether in the office or on the road, sustainability is always an important part of our day. Some of our sustainable practices include:

  • We embrace the digital and only print things when absolutely necessary. Anything printed is on recycled paper too.
  • We recycle all paper, tin, cardboard and plastic that is no longer needed. We promote sustainable practices for our passengers too. They are encouraged to bring along reusable items and recycle on tour. While always remembering to leave no trace.
  • Our coaches have Euro6 engines which reduce the amount of emissions they produce. With careful monitoring we are able to lessen the impact of travelling on the environment. We have a 4 star award from Eco Stars for our fuel efficiency.
  • We are proud to be a signatory of the Global Tourism Plastics Initiative led by the United Nations Environment Programme and the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), in collaboration with the Ellen MacArthur Foundation. As a signatory of the Global Tourism Plastics Initiative, we endorse the common vision to address the root causes of plastic pollution.
  • We have recently been awarded our bronze Green Tourism award. We look forward to working with them to further develop our sustainability skills.

For us sustainability starts at home. We have a real focus on helping and supporting our local community where possible. We have shared some of our recent experiences on our blog which you can read below.
