From Edinburgh we’ll head over to the Kelpies where we’ll get some photos of these stunning monuments. These pieces of art are the largest equine sculptures in the world.

Loch Lomond lies on the Highland Boundary Fault line that divides the Scottish Highlands from the Lowlands. At Balloch you can choose to take a one-hour cruise on Loch Lomond where you’ll enjoy stunning scenery with views of the magnificent Ben Lomond. Inchmurrin Island is the largest of Loch Lomond’s 33 islands and is home to the ancient ruins of Lennox Castle where Robert the Bruce sheltered before he became King of Scotland.

If you prefer to stay on dry land, there’s time to explore Balloch Castle Country Park, where you can visit the Fairy Glen, the Chinese Garden and enjoy superb views over Loch Lomond.

We’ll have lunch within the National Park before travelling over the dramatic Dukes Pass into the Trossachs. The name ‘Trossachs’ comes from the Gaelic meaning ‘a Bristly Place’ and its forest covered mountains and shimmering highland lochs will take your breath away. This was also the stomping ground of Rob Roy MacGregor; you’ll hear tales from your driver guide about this Scottish folk hero.

As we travel through the Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park lookout for our woolly, long-horned Highland cows, we call them hairy coos!

You’ll have time to visit to Stirling Castle, one of the most important castles in Scottish history, great royal residence of the Stuart Kings and Mary Queen of Scots, who was crowned here in 1543, aged only nine months. With close associations to Robert the Bruce and Bonnie Prince Charlie, the castle overlooks the site of the battle of Stirling Bridge where another famous Scots hero, William Wallace of ‘Braveheart’ fame and his cry for freedom defeated a much larger English army in 1297.

From Stirling we’ll make our return to Edinburgh where your Loch Lomond, Stirling Castle & the Kelpies tour will end.

My boyfriend and I took a once in a lifetime trip and I am so glad we decided to do this tour. We took the Sterling Castle, Loch Lomond, and Kelpies tour with Marco as our guide. Marco was so great with all the history, the music, and conversation. If you are even just thinking about going on this tour DO IT, and cross your fingers you end up with Marco.

15/02/23 – Kiera

John was a fantastic, welcoming and informative guide. What a great tour – we saw so many beautiful places and learned so much about Scottish history. Thank you John for welcoming my family and I to Discover Scotland Tours!

My husband Bill Barron and I had a fabulous day on the Discover Scotland Tours with Marco as our guide. His local knowledge, enthusiasm, and care for the tour participants was extraordinary.  The day was well organized and the sites and experiences as promised. We loved the extra special insight into Scottish music shared through the trip. Would highly recommend this team!!!

14/09/22 – Bernie and John

We had an excellent day out. Michael was very funny and packed in a lot of places to see. So pleased we choose this day out of the city. Countryside was beautiful and worth seeing. Sterling Castle, Lock Lomond, and Kelps. Very enjoyable. Hamish the Highland cow was lovely to see. He was very chilled. Thank you we had a lovely time.

I took the Loch Lomond and Stirling Castle tour yesterday with Frank, and it was delightful!!! I had such a great time and Frank was great with his explanations and pointing out sights along the way. It was easy to find him after the tours and his getting our cruise tickets so we didn’t have to wait in line was very nice. The town we stopped in for lunch was a great break!

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour and in particular Frank Mccafferty’s guidance and commentary. The mini bus was clean and in excellent condition. We were provided with adequate bathroom stops and “down time.” The structure of the tour was maintained with enough flexibility to accommodate differences in interests and energy levels among the various participants. There was a nice span of ages of the participants and we were probably the oldest of the group. Thank you and thank Frank for a wonderful experience!

19/06/22 – Emma

I had a great time thank you! John, the driver, is like a walking, talking Scottish history book which was great! I asked him if I would see hairy coos on the tour and he took us to see Hamish and Honey which I really appreciated.  Thanks for a great day out.

We went on the Loch Lomond, Stirling Castle and Kelpies Tour with our guide Marco. The tour was fantastic with spectacular views and tons of photo opportunities. We chose not to take the Loch Lomond boat tour as we’d gone on the boat in Loch Ness on another tour. Instead we grabbed a coffee and a snack and wandered the town. Marco then took us to see the hairy coos, which was a lot of fun and, of course, the area was very picturesque. Then we went on to Stirling castle, which we LOVED. We arrived around 4PM and there weren’t a lot of people so we were able to see everything we wanted to see and get lots of pictures. I highly recommend touring this castle for the amazing views and the history. We’re from Canada and we’ve never experienced anything like this before. It was truly once in a lifetime for us. After the castle we visited the kelpies, which were quite beautiful. Marco was an excellent guide, full of local knowledge and history. He was also very accommodating, polite and kind with all the guests. Thank you to Discover Scotland Tours and Marco for a really wonderful day!

I didn’t want to come upto Edinburgh from London just to go shopping, I wanted to see a different part of Edinburgh hence why I booked the trip to Loch lomand national park, The Kelpies & Stirling Castle.  We had fabulous weather which was an added bonus.  John was brilliant, very knowledgeable.  I thoroughly enjoyed the tour and would certainly use your services again in the future. I would recommend the tour I was on to anyone.
