Supporting our Local Foodbank

After returning to work it wasn’t long before we resumed our support for the community through local charities and events.

In May we decided to collect a foodbank donation. This was advertised for our passengers and other local people to join alongside our own staff. The pandemic has hit many people very hard and foodbanks have had even more visitors than they did before. We truly understand that anyone can find themselves in a difficult situation. It’s therefore important to us to provide some support where we can.

The donation pile grew over the month and our end result did not disappoint. Our Tour Leader Michael had the honours of visiting the Renfrewshire Foodbank which is local to our office and dropping off our donation.

We are certainly very lucky that many of the supermarkets in the area have a donation box for the local foodbank. This therefore makes donating after your weekly shop very easy. If you can make a donation then please have a look at the foodbanks in your area. From our photos you may notice that there’s a lot of canned potatoes, cleaning supplies and toiletries for example. These are things our foodbank was in particular need of. Our local foodbank is operated by The Trussell Trust, which is a larger organisation that operates foodbanks throughout the UK.

The video below features a poem created by a Trussell Trust volunteer as part of their Hunger Free Future campaign. You can read more on the Trussell Trust website.
